Hi everybody! Today I'm going to share with you how music can have a positive impact on your mental and physical health! I'll share with you the basic facts, things you can experiment at home and lots more! Before we get started, please could you like this post? Why? Well the more likes there are, the more people know about my website and want to view it. It would mean so much to me. I post things on my website in my own time, I don't have to do it, but I do because its something I'm passionate about, and I want to keep you guys up to date! Thank you!

Music varies from slow, fast, upbeat, sinister, funky, the list goes on! And when we listen to music, our heart tries to beat in time with it. That is why when you hear a more upbeat fun song, you might feel more energetic, and when you are listening to a sad, emotional song, you might feel tense and tired. Music affects our body in many different ways, and is a great companion for people who struggle with depression, anxiety, etc.

Here is a little experiment:

See how many starjumps you can do in 1 minute. Or burpees or push ups, whatever form of exercise you want.

Now, play your favourite song, and repeat the activity.

Did you find you were able to do more starjumps with the music than without?

That's your body and heart reacting to the music! Music can motivate you, which is why some students tend to listen to music whilst studying. Cool right?

Here are some fun things to try at home:

  1. Play a really happy song, or upbeat song which you enjoy, it can be anything. As you listen to it, make sure you have it on quite loud, and probably best if you have it on through headphones (considering they block out all outside noise allowing you to really concentrate on the [particular song). As you listen, feel your heart and check your breathing regular, and note down the speed of your pulse and breathing. Also note down how you feel, and what's going through your mind.

Next, play a sad song. Once again, note down the speed of your pulse and breathing (it doesn't have to be exact) and note down any emotions you feel or what's going through your mind.

Look back on your notes, and you probably realise that when listening to a happier song, you had more positive emotions, and that happy memories may have been going through your mind, and vice versa for the sad music.

  2. The next fun experiment, is this: Play some music which you and your family or friends all like, first of all listen to it alone, and then listen to it together with your family/friends. Which did you prefer? Some people enjoy listening to music on their own, because they feel more at ease and comfortable, and feel that they can fully zone in on the song, however, some people like listening to music alongside other people, because it seems like more of a positive environment. And when people start smiling as they listen and dance to the song, the smiles are contagious, making everybody smile!

Thank you for reading this blog post!
