10 Animals You Never Knew Existed!

So you think you're an animal expert? Well, it is estimated that there are 5 million animals yet to be discovered! Pretty cool? Well, lets narrow it down a bit, here are 10 animals you probably have never heard of!
Glass Frog
Glass Frogs are located in Southern and Central America, they have a lifespan of about 14 years. They are a unique animal, due to the fact that they are sea-through, hence the name! You can see the insides of it's body, and they are camouflage experts.
2. Capybara
Capybaras are mammals, and they are the largest known rodent! It looks a little like a guinea pig, and it's fur is wiry like a pig's. However, despite being classified as rodents, these animals are extremely cute, and sociable. They are native to South America and can grow up to about 4 feet long. They are known for being docile creatures.

3. Dugong
Dugongs, also known as manatees, are one of the ocean's most bizarre creatures. They are also known as "sea cows" and sweeps the sea floor, grazing on the seagrass, like the ocean's lawn-mower. Dugongs are from Australia, and are listed as "vulnerable".

4. Aye-Aye
The Aye Aye is a truly crazy animal. It is not known for its appealing appearance, but is however known for being named as the "World's Strangest Primate" and the "World's Largest Nocturnal Primate". The Aye-Aye is also known for its odd, eating habits. The unique primate finds its food by tapping on trees which helps it identify if there are any insects in the wood.
5. Mantis Shrimp
Mantis Shrimp are aquatic animals, known for their vibrant colours and interesting technique of getting food. They live in the Indian and Pacific waters and they eat worms, fish and squid. They have sharp claws, and hit their prey with the power of a bullet! They have incredible eyesight and are able to see a wide range of colours, and they are so strong they can break through glass!
6. Santanic Leaf-Tailed Gecko
As the name suggests, the Santanic Leaf-Tailed Gecko, looks like a leaf! This is an extremely useful trait considering it can easily blend into its surroundings. To add to the leafy effect, it's skin is covered in artificial ridges to give it the "veiny leaf look".
7. Pangolin
Not to be mistaken with an armadillo or scaly anteaters, pangolins are an animal you have probably heard of before, but maybe don't know what they look like. Despite the fact it is covered in large scales, the pangolin is classified as a mammal, making it the only scaled mammal! When under threat, pangolins curl up, using their sharp scales to protect them.
8. Axolotl
The axolotl is a salamander-like amphibian, with feathery gills on the sides of their face. They vary in colours, some of them are even pink! Also, if an axolotl loses a leg, it is able to regrow it!
9. Platypus
These mammals are beaver like, and semiaquatic animals. They don't look like it, but they are one of the world's most venomous mammals. They have sharp stingers on their heels and are toxic.
10. Echidna
Echidnas closely resembling hedgehogs, with their quill covered body, but surprisingly, they are not related. Fun fact: An echidna's maximum speed is 2.3 kilometres per hour.
